The WA Department of Mines and Petroleum have recently released a Decision Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) on the proposed Work Health and Safety (Resources) Bill.

The proposed Bill would modernise and combine the safety legislation relevant to mines, petroleum pipelines and facilities, and Major Hazard Facilities.

The Department of Mines and Petroleum engaged Marsden Jacob Associates to prepare a Consultation RIS on the proposed WHS (Resources) Bill and to undertake an independent consultation with all relevant stakeholders. Finally, Marsden Jacob produced the Decision RIS which recommends a way forward having considered the consultation responses.

To assist stakeholders to comment on the proposed WHS (Resources) Bill, DMP also provided a mock-up of the proposed Bill (Mock Bill) and the proposed structure of supporting regulations.  The mock bill is available here (Link)
