Congratulations to the Dutch Infrastructure Fund (DIF), Phoenix Energy, Macquarie Capital and the Western Australian Government on this landmark investment.
The facility will be fuel led by up to 400,000 tonnes per year of municipal solid waste diverted from non-recyclable curbside collection. Expected to be completed in 2021, the plant’s installed capacity of 36 MW will be enough to power up to 50,000 Western Australian homes with baseload energy. The investment will contribute to grid stability in WA’s South West Interconnected System, and reduce solid waste going to landfill in Western Australia.
The Australian Government is supporting the project with $23 million in grant funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), and up to $90 million in debt finance from the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC). Further details can be found here.
