Impact evaluation of the India Super Trade Mission PDF Print E-mail

MJA has recently conducted an impact evaluation for the Victorian Department of Business and Innovation (DBI) on the India Super Trade Mission. This evaluation has focused on identifying the preliminary economic and strategic outcomes of the Super Trade Mission.

As part of this project, MJA interviewed a sample of participating firms to ascertain both the quantitative and qualitative impacts of the Super Trade Mission. A number of direct economic impacts have been estimated through the application of adjustment coefficients. Indirect impacts were also estimated based on Input-Output modelling.

MJA also provided DBI with advice on how to improve the evaluation of future trade missions. This has included ways to collect more robust and reliable evidence, as well as methods for capturing information regarding strategic gains.

The India Super Trade Mission was conducted in February 2012, taking place over 17 days and covering nine Indian cities. There were 206 participating Victorian organisations, drawn from ten sectors of the Victorian economy.
