Marsden Jacob has been retained by the NSW Environment Protection Authority to support applicants under the Organics Infrastructure (large and small) programme.  This program falls under the EPA’s Waste Less, Recycle More initiative, and provides $41.67 million in grants to projects over four years to:

  • fund infrastructure and equipment to reduce food and garden organic waste going to landfill; and
  • increase organics processing capacity to meet proposed new recycling targets of 70 per cent by 2021.

Marsden Jacob, working with Blue Environment, is helping applicants to develop strong business cases that demonstrate economic, technical, financial and market merit.  Marsden Jacob is also helping to identify business cases that have only limited likelihood of success, and subsequently help these applicants to either refine their project to improve the chances of success or avoid wasting their time preparing a business case that would not be funded.

To support the development of the business cases,  Marsden Jacob developed both cost-benefit analysis and financial analysis models that are used by applicants.  Following positive feedback on the tools, the NSW EPA and Environmental Trust also engaged Marsden Jacob to adapt the tools so that they can be used by applicants under other Waste Less, Recycle More programs, including:
