Marsden Jacob has been appointed by the Western Australian Department of Mines and Petroleum to undertake a formal consultation on the regulations supporting the Work Health and Safety (Resources) Bill.
The consultation will be undertaken using the Regulatory Impact Assessment process and is proposed to include an analysis of Regulatory Burden.
We will shortly prepare a Consultation Regulatory Impact Statement and public consultation is expected to occur around May/June 2016.
The Regulatory Impact Statement process involves production of a Consultation Paper, public consultation including workshops/forums, analysis of responses including a cost benefit analysis and delivery of a final report setting out the recommended reforms following consideration of stakeholders’ input.
Marsden Jacob has advised and supported the Department of Mines and Petroleum throughout the modernisation of the resource safety provisions and critical risk legislation.
We have previously delivered the Regulatory Impact Statements and advised on both the Structure of Resource Safety legislation and then on the content of the Work Health and Safety (Resources) Bill.
