For the past six months Marsden Jacob Associates has been assisting the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to implement a pricing and payments framework for Specialist Disability Accomodation (SDA).
SDA is accommodation for National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants who require specialist housing solutions to assist with the delivery of supports that cater for their significant functional impairment and/or very high support needs.
The approach to SDA has been designed to enable a smooth transition of existing SDA stock into the NDIS, while also encouraging new builds from a broad range of investors to improve the long-term supply of SDA and to stimulate innovation in SDA housing solutions. By providing prices that cover the full cost of owning and operating a range of building types (rather than a single averaged amount) the Agency will be providing new incentives for SDA providers to develop smaller and innovative forms of accommodation into the future.
