The Australian Government Department of the Environment has recently released the Packaging Impacts Decision Regulation Impact Statement.  This sets out a recommendation of the National Environment Protection Council on a preferred option for increasing recycling of packaging material and reducing packaging litter.

The decision was informed by a comprehensive cost benefit analysis of 10 alternative options for reducing packaging litter and increasing recycling that was completed by Marsden Jacob in 2013.

The Decision Regulation Impact Statement including Marsden Jacob’s reports can be found at http://www.environment.gov.au/protection/nepc/publications/packaging-impacts-decision-ris.
