Strategic social impact

As we continue to hashtag#ShapeTheFutureWisely with our clients and partners, incorporating social impact assessment and key insights in our work is becoming commonplace.

What is social impact assessment?

Social impact assessments examine and communicate the potential environmental, economic and social impacts and benefits of a project. These assessments have become a standard and required component of business cases.

Strategic alignment: an added dimension to social impact assessment

All levels and tiers of government have social, environmental and economic objectives they want to achieve. By adding a strategic alignment analysis to our business cases, we help our clients demonstrate how their project aligns with whole-of-government agendas and contributes to the achievement of social and economic outcomes.

We centre our clients’ project in the ‘bigger picture’ in ways that put the public in public investment. We do this by illustrating that the benefits investments can deliver and the intersections with the responsibilities of multiple agencies and influential stakeholders – often in seemingly unrelated areas such as empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, creating opportunities for people from vulnerable and marginalised groups, health, tourism and culture.

Why Marsden Jacob?

Our team knows how to weave the social impact and strategic policy alignment into investment cases in ways that create compelling reasons for change, and that align investment outcomes with social and other objectives.

Marsden Jacob’s experience and expertise gained from working in, across and for government means we are well placed to help you better navigate your project across the line. Our understanding of the language, processes and political context mean we know how to speak to the primary audience, crafting compelling narratives and key messages that resonate. We know how to distil what’s essential and can do this for different levels of government, different agencies, and for different investment types.
